Understand the Nature-Positive Economy, why transformation is needed, and the role your organization or community can play.
welcome!
Nature supports every part of our lives. It provides the food we eat, the water we drink, the materials we use and many of the systems that support our health, livelihoods and economies. However, the ways in which we currently produce, consume and invest are contributing to nature loss.
A Nature-Positive Economy offers a different direction: an economy in which economic activities contribute to the recovery of nature while supporting people’s wellbeing and prosperity.
This learning programme will help you understand what that transition could mean in practice and how you can contribute through your work, organisation or community. You do not need any previous knowledge of biodiversity, economics or environmental policy to take part.
The programme has been developed through GoNaturePositive!, an EU-funded initiative that brings together researchers and practitioners from across Europe and beyond. The project explores how businesses, governments, financial institutions, researchers and communities can work together to build an economy that supports the recovery of nature.
What is the purpose of the programme?
The programme is designed to help you move from understanding the idea of a Nature-Positive Economy to applying it in your own context.
Across the programme, you will:
- Build a common understanding of nature, the economy and the need for change.
- Explore how different organizations and communities affect and depend on nature.
- Consider the risks and opportunities associated with the transition.
- Learn about approaches for assessing progress and identifying priorities.
- Explore practical actions, partnerships and pathways for change.
- .Apply the learning to your own role and the area in which you work.
You will hear directly from researchers and practitioners involved in this work. You will also encounter practical examples, reflection activities and resources that will help you connect the course to your own experience.
